Information for the initial review

Spanish–English documents

VP Legal handles requests for document translations between Spanish and English. The format, certification and involvement of a qualified expert, when required, are confirmed for the receiving institution and jurisdiction.

What your quotation should specify

Confirm the deliverable, who will translate the document, any certification included and the delivery conditions. Include the date you need the translation. Length, legibility and complexity inform the cost; apostille, legalization, copies and shipping are separate items when applicable.

Before ordering

Check whether the institution requires a translation and which language and format it accepts. A translation does not correct errors in the original record. Identify inconsistent names or details before commissioning it, and confirm the receiving institution’s requirements before reusing a translation for another procedure.

Scope and quotation

The proposal should specify the work, expected deliverables and follow-up. Professional fees, official fees, translations and shipping are itemized separately when applicable. Requirements, appointments and final decisions depend on the relevant authority; processing times and results are not guaranteed.

Start with a short description. Avoid sending full identity documents or sensitive personal information in your first social-media message.
